Takara Watch Girl - MIB - £350

Uneasy with the unending cycle of violence, megalomania and deception endorsed by boys toys from the 1980's; girls inhabited a more peaceable realm full of fluffy pink horses, teapots and other benign phantasmagoria - a world some would claim is even more chilling. Enter Takara's Watch Girl a spin-off from the Watch-Q line and available in three shades of pink. In some ways superior to the Watch Boy - it featured a stand and an improved strap: less prone to breaking. Few were made, fewer sold and fewer still survive.

Bandai God Jesus - MIB - £200

In the pantheon of toy robots there is none more holy and none more ludicrous than God Jesus. The well worn phrase 'only in Japan' seems unavoidable. He is the anointed borg who will answer your prayers with a solemn nod or shake of the head. Brandishing his crucifix aloft he dispenses binary wisdom - for in him two of the trinity have merged. Only the Holy Ghost remains separate. Bandai - will we ever see a Ghost God Jesus? Thus completing a process Catholics the world over have anticipated for centuries.

Machine Robo - Lucky Draw MR-20 - £200

This is a stunning gold chrome Porsche Robo MR-20, made by Bandai in 1983. These chrome Machine Robo were released for a brief period as lucky draw items in Japan. There was a small possibility that one would reside within your regular packaged toy. A variety of models were given this regal treatment: including MR-01, MR-03, MR-04, MR-20, MR-29 and MR-31. All in either gold or silver. Like most vintage chromed items, not many still retain their original lustre.

Tomy Coca Cola Chatbot - MIB - £200

This is a rare Coca-Cola Chatbot (a.k.a Happy Can Can Yu-U-Zu), made by Tomy in the 1980's. He is in excellent condition and comes in his original box with polystyrene insert, tray, twirly antenna, coke can remote and documentation unique to this release. This was made on special commission for The Coca-Cola Company and released in Japan in very small quantities. He has been tested and is fully working. A very obscure and funky looking robot and one of the best pieces of product merchandise I've ever seen!

Tomy TXR-002 Type F - MIB - £500

This is a very rare TXR-002 Type F Robot, made by Tomy in 1993. It's in mint deadstock condition and comes with the original remote control and six of the five known attachments; Manipulator Arm, Torch Arm, Pellet Gun, Gatling Gun and Beam Battler. The Type F features both rare assault weapon arms as standard, a gun-metal colour scheme and a variety of special features that differentiate it from the standard TXR-002. This is an extremely cool toy, with a design aesthetic reminiscent of Robocop, Terminator and various other cyberpunk media of the 1980's. It is challenging to build (and maintain!) and has deservedly acquired a cult following amongst hobbyists.

357 Magnum Robo - MIB - £400

This is a Highway Patrolman Magnum 357 Robo, made by Sunmayor in 1982. This is the original Japanese release (there was also an Italian version). He is MIB and comes complete with detachable scope, bullet pack and bullets. He has real heft in gun mode and features high quality plastic and die-case metal. Though in robot mode he is not exactly svelte (it's here Takara's superior understanding of transforming mechanisms are most apparent) he features one of the most convincing gun modes of any robot and is amongst the rarest of pre-transformers.

Machine Robo Collection - MIB - £1000

This is a stunning collection of Machine Robo, made by Bandai in the 1980's. There are 40 robots in total (MR-06, MR-11, MR-12, MR-30, MR-43, MR-44, MR-45 and MR-46 are included but not pictured). All are MIB and come complete with boxes, polystyrene inserts, overlays, accessories (where appropriate), unused sticker sheets, instructions and catalogues. Some of the boxes have wear but all toys and contents are in deadstock condition. Finding a collection of this size and quality is practically unheard of. Some consider Machine Robo an inferior alternative to Transformers but for me they have an unpretentiousness that puts them amongst the most refined of transforming robot.

Tokima Digirobo - MIB - £150

This is an outrageous bright yellow Tokima Digirobo transforming watch made by Bandai in 1983. He is in mint unused condition and comes complete with first edition box, corrugated insert, display case, mount and instruction manual. He has been tested and is fully working. It would be hard to find a better example.

Tomy Nyanko - MIB - £200

This is a rare Nyanko cat robot, made by Tomy in the 1980's. She is in mint deadstock condition and comes in her original box with all inserts and packaging. This was one of the last in the popular line of home pets, servants and entertainers produced by Tomy. The menagerie included Foocrow (or Hootbot) the owl, Potch (or Spotbot) the canine and finally Nyanko the cat: who never saw an original Western release (though she has recently been re-released in a new colour scheme as Kitbot). She waves her tail, unceremoniously bundles herself over, then rights herself - only to repeat the ludicrous process. A toy almost impossible to find in any condition. 

Tomy Omnibot Jr. 'Charmmy' - MIB - £350

This is a rare Omnibot Junior (a.k.a Charmmy), made by Tomy in the 1980's. He is in mint deadstock condition and comes in his original box with all inserts and packaging. He comes complete with tray, remote control, money box (unpunched), model (unpunched), instruction manual and all other documentation. He has been tested and is fully working. This version of Omnibot Junior was only released in Japan and has many unique accessories and design features. Rare to find in such pristine and complete condition.

Tokima Digirobo Aquaboy - MIB - £150

Here we have an obscure Aquaboy transforming watch made by Bandai in 1984. This was a spin-off from the main Digirobo line: featuring a waterproof design and cool new robot with scuba gear! Transforming watches are a niche within a niche but a staggering variety were produced within a relatively short period of time: Takara has the most models but Bandai outclassed them with build quality, and designs that were as much watches as they were robots. There are at least two other colour variation of this toy I know of (white and red), and all are challenging to acquire in any condition.

Popy Volt In Box - MIB - £1000

This is the monumental Volt In Box gift set, made by Popy in 1977. It is the flagship toy for the classic Sunrise anime Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes Five (超電磁マシーン ボルテスＶ). He is in mint condition (with the exception of his swords which are tarnished) and comes complete with all accessories and paperwork. The box has sustained damage but is still complete and solid. A rare toy and a perennial favourite amongst collectors.

Takara Mecha Warriors - MIB - £300

This is a rare set of Mecha Warriors by Takara. These diminutive transforming robots would go on to become the Transformers Mini-Spies, featuring alternative colour schemes and inferior packaging. This is the complete set of four models in both red and the rarer blue colouration. All are MISB. It would be tedious in the extreme to acquire these one at a time!

Diaclone Powered Convoy - MIB - £700

This is a rare Powered Convoy made by Takara. He is in mint condition and comes complete with all accessories, paperwork and unused sticker sheet. This is the more desirable chrome chest version. A toy that would later go on to become the utterly ineffectual Autobot Chief Ultra Magnus.

Popy Astro In Box - MIB - £1000

Astro In Box made by Popy in 1979. The most impressive toy produced for the classic anime Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger (SF西遊記スタージンガー). It is in mint condition and comes complete with all packaging and accessories: including rare unpunched alien cards. A glorious giftset packed with fun - which bizarrely has become too valuable to play with! Well at least you can ogle at the fantastic box art.

Popy Gatchaspartan DX - MIB - £1000

This is a rare Gatchaspartan DX made by Popy in 1979. This was the ridiculous combining spaceship used by Ken, Jō, Jun, Jinpei and Ryū: the members of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (科学忍者隊ガッチャマン). They toy is in mint unplayed with condition and comes with all parts, accessories and paperwork. The small blue accessory trays are missing. One of the most colourful and sought after vehicle giftsets.

Diaclone Insecter Robo DX - MIB - £800

Diaclone Insecter Robo Giftset. Comes in mint deadstock condition: complete with all accessories, paperwork and unused sticker sheets. The toys have never been removed from their polystyrene inserts - condition can not be improved upon! Contains all three of the original Waruder Insector Robo's: toys that would later be re-released as the Trasformers Insecticons. Some of the perishingly few troops made avialable to poor King Waruder! One of the most desirable of all Diaclone items.

Diaclone Sky-Base - MIB - £250

Diaclone Bird-Base / Sky-Base DX giftset. Comes complete apart from two small pieces. All contents are near mint. One of the rarer Diaclone playsets that didn't sell well upon release by Takara in 1982. Box and insert are in very good shape. Clunky but cool.

Gattiger Combination GO!! - MIB - £800

Rare mint example of Gattiger Combination GO!! deluxe giftset made by Takatoku. Comes complete with all cars, accessories and paperwork. Deadstock condition and never removed from box. Almost impossible to find in this state. Features some of the funkiest box art from the vintage era and perhaps the most ridiculous vehicle design ever conceived!
